Why Wall Pilates
Similar to traditional Pilates, Wall Pilates offers numerous benefits that can make it an appealing choice. While traditional Pilates is effective, the addition of the wall in Wall Pilates brings extra advantages that might encourage you to prefer it.
- Improves Core Strength: Wall Pilates strengthens the abdominal muscles and enhances overall core stability. The added resistance provided by the wall helps build strength and muscle tone more effectively.
- Boosts Posture: Wall Pilates aids in correcting posture by aligning the spine and shoulders, leading to better overall body alignment.
- Supports Joint Health and Flexibility: The low-impact exercises of Wall Pilates reduce strain on joints, making it suitable for all ages. The wall's support further minimises joint strain, making it ideal for individuals with joint issues or arthritis. While increasing the flexibility of muscles and joints, promoting better movement and reducing the risk of injuries.
- Enhances Balance: Wall Pilates helps improve balance and coordination through controlled movements. The wall provides additional support, making it easier for beginners and those with balance challenges.
Incorporating Wall Pilates into your fitness routine can offer these enhanced benefits, making it a convincing addition to traditional Pilates.

How did you initially learn about Pilates, and what drew you to it?
One of my earliest memories is watching my mum teach pilates to her clients out of her home studio. What drew me into Pilates was the feminine energy in the studios and of course the results.
What do you find most rewarding about teaching Pilates, and how does it impact your life outside of the studio?
Pilates is a dedicated time commitment to myself, allowing myself to turn down the chatter in my brain. I use this time to unite my mind, breath and body. It’s a grounding experience with the same amount of mental concentration as it is physical. What we learn through Pilates, like learning how to breathe properly and strengthening the body, allows us to perform everyday tasks with ease. Such as getting in and out of a car, or reaching for something on the top shelf.
Can you share a memorable moment from your journey to becoming a certified Pilates instructor?
The exercises that I’ve done dozens of times before suddenly felt entirely different. After hours of studying anatomy, then taking a class I’ve started visualising my body differently.
What's your favorite wall Pilates move and why?
Wall Push ups & variations. I’m obsessed with upper body work, it challenges me and leaves me feeling strong.
How do you structure a wall Pilates session to ensure a balanced workout that targets all major muscle groups?
By not overthinking it. I always structured my workouts to be time effective so organising my exercises based on plane of motion. Then transitioning through different muscle groups from there.
Looking ahead, what are your goals or aspirations within the fitness industry, and how do you plan to continue evolving your career?
My goal is to provide the shift in my clients from wanting to exercise to look, to wanting to exercise to feel good. My dad is currently 80, has a PHD in physical education and still exercises today. I’ve witnessed that fitness is a critical key to a full life. I’m looking forward to teaching reformer Pilates in LA both in studio and private. I would like to eventually own a small studio of my own, similar to my moms, I think it’s a sweet way to honour her and help others.
